Menswear - Designer, Consultant and Stylist

Clare Fazal trained at Harrow University of Westminster and graduated with a BA (hons) degree in fashion design. Her studies continued at the prestigious Royal College of Art on the MA course in London, specializing in technical Menswear and business studies.

After leaving the Royal College of Art and being awarded the Alfred Dunhill scholarship, Clare Fazal began building up business relationships working with underground bands and high profile music artists presenting concepts and design ideas for project based work. This generated a working relationship in designing and styling for private clients. Approached by the Japanese giant comic Manga Entertainment based in the UK, Clare was commissioned to design an exclusive collection for Manga to showcase alongside its first UK art exhibition at the Ritzy Cinema in Brixton. Having shown great interest in Clare’s talent David Bowie commissioned an outfit for stage at the Brit Awards and developed a friendship with Clare in support of the label Persons Unknown. This was advertised on Bowienet David quoting “Clare is one of my favorite designers, she’s got style”.

The Persons Unknown label showcased a live catwalk show at the music venue Shepherds Bush Empire in London, alongside a 12 piece orchestra string band. The success of the show followed further catwalk shows and exhibitions in London. These collections showcased amongst new emerging brands and leading fashion designers; Dunhill, Paul Smith, Burberry, Vivienne Westwood, Michiko Koshino, Kenzo, Maharishi, Levis, Dolce & Gabbana and Jean-Paul Gaultier.

Clare Fazal has collaborated on multi-media projects from consultancy to art direction in design, graphics and photo images from tradtional to cutting edge menswear, producing exclusive one off ‘made to measure’ garments within music and fashion. This includes designing/styling, building ranges working closely with artists, pattern cutters/tailors in pattern making, garment construction with small cmt and manufacturers producing style concepts for pop promos, fashion photo shoots, TV and stage.

Persons unknown Menswear draws its inspiration within a society of high life and low life’s cutting edge.

Clare Fazal’s interest for British Menswear in its history combines her skills and respect in the traditional craftsmanship of mens tailoring. Fazal’s inspiration transcends from her love of music, history, film and the arts bringing together a fresh and contemporary approach in modern Menswear. Innovation in fabrics, clever cut in details and  textile printed designs features in her collections.
